Meaning of curriculum: belonging to Latin language the word curriculum

means "currer" followed by course or runway, while one runs to reach a goal Accordingly a curriculum is the instructional and the educative programme by following which the pupils achieve their goals, ideals and aspiration of life.


Old concept of Curriculum: In olden days curriculum has a concept of its own. It was synonymous with the courses and the information that the student had to acquire.


Modern Concept of Curriculum: The new concept of curriculum is very


broad based. It consists of totality of experience that the pupil receives through the many fold activities at go in the school, in the class-room, library, laboratory, playgrounds and numerous contacts between a teacher and the student.


Now it is clear that curriculum is all the experiences of the learners under the control of the school. It is more than text books, subject mater and courses of study.



2.Give importance of curriculum.


Curriculum is defined as the content material of education. In this way, it is the curriculum on which the structure of education is based. Unless the curriculum is scientifically organized and properly planned, education cannot be successful

5. Curriculum is dynamic and is not static. It changes constantly according to the changing needs, demands and operation of the society.


6. Curriculum helps a teacher as well as a student for the acquisition of knowledge. 7. Curriculum helps a teacher for selecting the effective methods of education.
